The Fund
The Douglas Family Fun Run is an annual event, started in 2004, to raise funds to build the first track in our growing community of Douglas, Massachusetts. A small group of parents, school teachers, athletic directors and town officials worked together to make the inaugural effort a huge success. All proceeds benefit the Town of Douglas Track and Field Fund Organization, with those monies held in reserve towards the construction of a track.
The yearly event features a 5K Road Race that offers a challenging course along town and country roads. Starting just before the main race is the 1-Mile Kids' Fun Run, a quick dash for those 12 and under who also want to run. And a 2M Health Walk coincides with the main race, following the same course, and offers a pleasant alternative for those who want to participate at a slower pace.

Our little race has far-reaching effects...
One of our race volunteers does mission work in Tanzania. The girls on the left are wearing extra race t-shirts that we donated to their school, The Trade School, in Mtandika Village in the Iringa Region of Tanzania. Sister Barberina Mhagala (the nun wearing blue in the middle of the photo) runs the school.
